The fourth installment of the G4 Alliance Webinar Series on Key Framework Elements explores Platforms to Collect Surgical Care Data.
We are pleased to announce that Ambassador Dr. Neil Parsan, Executive Secretary for Integral Development of the Organization of American States, will be joining us as Chair of this month's webinar.
In this edition of the G4 Alliance Webinar Series, panelists will be discussing the importance of tracking and monitoring surgical outcomes, including the development of technology platforms to support robust data collection, evaluation and feedback loops.
The webinar will provide an overview of existing tools and resources available for collection of operative and surgical data. Our expert working group will share findings and recommendations based on their review of current resources and standards for monitoring and evaluation of surgical and anaesthesia outcomes.
While a number of tools exist to gather health data at various levels of care (i.e.: individual, community/household, hospital), it is at the national level where consistent, large-scale operative and surgical data can be collected and aggregated on a globally relevant scale.
In addition to existing platforms, a wide variety of operation classification standards exist, such as ICD-10-PCS, SNOWMED and CCAM. To obtain widespread comparable data, it will be important to standardize the way operations are recorded at the facility level. Furthermore, it will be important to work with governments to ensure that national aggregation of data highlights surgically-relevant indicators such as peri-operative mortality rate.
This webinar will focus on effective strategies to support widespread surgical data collection and to strengthen overall surgical care systems through customization of health management information systems across low and middle income countries (LMICs).
