American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ACOMS)

Dr. Melissa Amundson received her Dental Degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago, followed by an Internship at the University of Pennsylvania and Residency at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. She then completed her fellowship training in Craniomaxillofacial Surgery and Advanced Trauma in
Portland, Oregon at the Head and Neck Institute/Legacy Emanuel Hospital. She is currently completing her Master’s in Public Health at the University of Florida. She is faculty at the Head and Neck Institute, volunteer faculty at Oregon Health Sciences Center, and volunteer faculty at Hospital Escuela in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Her work includes maxillofacial trauma and reconstruction both stateside and in Honduras. She is also a consulting surgeon with Médecins Sans Frontiers and is
actively involved in the Noma Reconstruction project in Sokoto, Nigeria. Her research is focused in trauma reconstruction, and she also participates as an independent peer-reviewer several publications.
