Essential Surgery Profiled on Global Citizen Platform

September 27, 2014

60,000 people gathered in Central Park for the 3rd annual Global Citizen Festival, a public concert that celebrates global unity and provides a platform to raise awareness for some of the world's most pressing issues.

The event attracted over 20 million viewers through MSNBC and brought together a star-studded roster of celebrities and global advocates, including Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon- all united in their mission to eradicate extreme poverty by 2030.

This year, Neglected Surgeries were included on the Global Citizen Online Platform as a global health issue that requires urgent attention and action. As we move into the final year of the post-2015 process, we will continue collaborating with the organizers of the Global Citizen campaign to raise greater awareness and promote the critical need for safe, essential surgical care and anaesthesia around the world.
