On October 28, 2014 a group of Global Surgery and Anaesthesia Partners gathered during the ACS Clinical Congress in San Francisco to learn more about the G4 Alliance - a proposed collaboration between organizations advocating for the neglected surgical patient. The event provided an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss advocacy initiatives in support of greater political prioritization and increased access to surgical, obstetric, trauma, and anaesthesia care around the world. Participants also discussed the role of the G4 Alliance as an advocacy-based group dedicated to representing the collective voice of constituent organizations.
Special guest speakers at the event included Professor Herve Angate (President, West African College of Surgeons), Dr. Robert Lane (President, International Federation of Surgical Colleges), Dr. Kelly McQueen (President, Alliance for Surgery and Anesthesia Presence), Ms. Erin Stieber (Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, Smile Train), Dr. Frederick Morin (Representative, International Federation of Medical Student Associations) and Dr. Raymond R. Price (University of Utah, Center for Global Surgery).
The event was moderated by Dr. Fizan Abdullah (Chair, Global Surgical Initiative), Dr. Jaymie Henry (Executive Director, International Collaboration for Essential Surgery), and Dr. Kathleen Casey (Founder and Former Executive Director, ACS Operation Giving Back).
Please stay tuned for upcoming events and information sessions.
