WHO Recognizes Importance of Surgical Care & Anaesthesia as part of Universal Health Coverage

On January 29, 2015 the WHO Executive Board unanimously adopted a draft resolution on 'Strengthening emergency and essential surgical care and anaesthesia as a component of universal health coverage'.  Read the full resolution here.  

We would like to acknowledge the leadership of the governments of Australia, Kenya, Monaco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Ukraine, United States of America and especially Zambia that supported and officially presented the resolution to the WHO EB.

Special thanks to our member organizations and collaborators who made statements in support of the proposed resolution, including the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA), the International Federation of Surgical Colleges (IFSC), the International College of Surgeons (ICS), the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA), and the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).
