The G4 Alliance Team participated at the UN High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development this week. The mechanism for civil society organizations such as the G4 Alliance to engage in the HLPF is to collaborate with existing UN Major Groups. During this year's forum, the G4 Alliance coordinated its efforts with the Women's Major Group to promote the role of surgical care as part of SDGs within the context of the women's health issues, gender equality and the right of all people to health.
Through this engagement, the G4 Alliance was invited to deliver a statement during the HLPF Roundtable Session: "Investing in the future we want: what will it require?"
A copy of the statement can be found here.
About the HLPF
The HLPF is an annual forum convened by the President of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to bring together Heads of State and Government to promote implementation of sustainable development and to address new challenges. HLPF deliberations are intended to provide strategic and visionary guidance for integrated policy making. As of next year, the HLPF will serve as a forum to review implementation of the sustainable development goals (SDGs). More details about the HLPF can be found here.
