Globally, women and girls are disproportionately impacted by the lack of safe surgical care.
Access to safe and timely surgical care not only represents an essential health need for women and girls, but also accelerates gender equality and economic productivity.
On 21 May 2018, The G4 Alliance, in partnership with GE Foundation and the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH) hosted a global surgery advocacy event in parallel with the 71st World Health Assembly. This event brought together high-level officials from leading civil society organizations, country representatives and private sector partners to explore effective strategies for improving safe surgical care and advancing women’s health as part of the sustainable development agenda.
Integrating safe surgical, obstetric and anaesthesia care is an essential strategy to improve women’s health and support universal health coverage. Thank you for joining us for a dynamic session that showcased health care providers, innovators, implementers and advocates that are developing effective strategies to advance women's health through investment in safe surgical care!
