National governments and the Global Polio Eradication Initiative are edging toward global polio eradication, focusing attention and resources on the few remaining areas where the wild virus continues to circulate. Meanwhile, the global health community is prioritizing eradication while also preparing to sustain valuable immunization and disease surveillance tools developed during the initiative. The CSIS Global Health Policy Center, a major focal point for Washington discussions on polio eradication, is hosting an international conference that will highlight the role the U.S. is playing in the global effort and how that will evolve as eradication is achieved. Stay tuned for more information on speakers and registration.
